Our Mission
Overcomers of the Repaired Breach aims to reduce barriers and empower self-sufficiency for residents in Gary, Indiana who are in need but ineligible for traditional government assistance programs.
Let’s build together
-
As the largest city in Lake County, Gary struggles with poverty, unemployment and associated social issues that prevent many working families from achieving financial stability.
-
While existing systems focus on the lowest-income households, there remains a gap for those who earn too much to qualify yet still encounter significant obstacles outside of their control.
-
Overcomers of the Repaired Breach utilizes a holistic, client-centered approach tailored for each individual's unique circumstances.
Through one-on-one coaching, workshops, and advocacy, the organization will help clients overcome challenges to employment like lack of skills or work history, secure stable housing, access healthcare and counseling, continue their education, and smoothly reintegrate post-incarceration. By leveraging community partnerships and mobilizing available resources, Overcomers of the Repaired Breach will serve as a navigator and champion for clients to obtain long-term stability and self-sufficiency. The organization will launch core services, hire qualified staff, and operate while establishing a proven track record serving residents. Funding requests will document numbers of clients helped and specific barriers eliminated to demonstrate social impact. Overcomers of the Repaired Breach fills a critical gap for Gary's working families by empowering people to invest in themselves and strengthen their community from within.
